Orlando, FL (January 2, 2021) - The Orlando Police Department responded to the scene of a deadly pedestrian crash on Friday, January 1st. The crash took place on Orange Blossom Trail, near the intersection with Washington Avenue.
According to officers, an unidentified pedestrian was walking near the roadway when they were hit by a car. The pedestrian died at the accident scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Police have not released the victim's identity at this time. There were no reports of any other injuries suffered in the crash. Officers are still investigating the accident at this time.

According to statistics maintained by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were more than 700 reported fatalities due to Florida pedestrian accidents in 2019. This number was an increase over the prior year. More than 90% of all pedestrians involved in crashes in our state will suffer some type of injury. Many of the injuries will be serious and life-altering, requiring extensive and prolonged medical care.
