Naples, FL (July 12, 2020) - Two men sustained serious injuries in a Naples construction accident on Saturday. 

The Naples Fire-Rescue responded to the scene. According to reports, the workers were hurt when a floor collapsed beneath them. After falling during the collapse, other construction materials fell on top of the two men, trapping them underneath the rubble. Rescue crews were able to extricate the two victims and they were then rushed to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert. There is no further update on their conditions at this time. The two workers have not been identified at this time.

An investigation is ongoing. 

Workplace injuries are something that many people do not have to face.  However, certain industries naturally pose a great risk of danger to their workers. In 2016, there were 309 work-related fatalities reported in Florida. Construction accidents in Florida led the statistics with 68 of those fatal injuries. By nature, construction work is extremely hazardous and carries a risk of death or severe injury. There are many rules and safety regulations in the construction industry that are designed to keep workers safe. From procedures on how to operate equipment to specific rules on training, job sites are supposed to be made as safe as possible.
