North Miami, FL (July 12, 2020) - One person was killed and four others were injured in a car accident that took place in North Miami on Saturday, July 11th. The crash happened at 13995 W. Dixie Highway around 2:00 a.m.

According to officers, a car was traveling on W. Dixie when the driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a church building. There were a total of five occupants in the vehicle at the time of the accident. One person died as a result of their injuries while four others were taken to Aventura Hospital with unknown injuries. It is not clear if the deceased victim was the driver or a passenger in the vehicle. 

An investigation is ongoing at this time. There is no word on whether any charges are expected.

Car accidents in Florida take place about every 92 seconds. While many accidents are minor in nature and do not result in any injuries, some crashes are far more serious and can lead to life-altering outcomes. Deadly crashes are reported about eight times per day in our state. Sadly, these accidents often result in the deaths of innocent victims.
