Miami Gardens, FL (July 9, 2020) - A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Miami Gardens on Monday. The crash happened on State Road 7 near Northwest 181st Street.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to troopers, a black sedan was traveling on SR 7 when the driver attempted a left turn onto Northwest 181st Street. As the driver was turning, he drove into the path of a southbound motorcyclist. The car and motorcycle collided with one another. The driver of the sedan fled the scene immediately after impact and failed to provide any aid to the injured motorcyclist. The motorcycle rider, who was not identified, died at the crash scene.
Investigators are still searching for the driver at this time. Anyone with information on the crash should contact the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
Hit-and-run accidents in Florida continue to trend upwards every year. In 2019, there were 105,000 reported hit-and-run crashes in our state. This number is large enough to account for about 25% of the total reported traffic accidents.
