Leesburg, FL (July 8, 2020) - One person was killed in a crash between a car and a semi-truck in Leesburg on Wednesday, July 8th. The crash happened on the Florida's Turnpike at the Leesburg Toll Plaza.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the truck was stopped to pay a toll when an approaching vehicle failed to slow down and collided with the rear-end of the truck. A passenger in the vehicle died as a result of the crash. There were no other injuries reported in the collision. At this time, police have not released any information on the victim's identity or the cause of the collision.
FHP is investigating the crash and it is not clear whether charges will be filed. No further information is available.
