St. Lucie County, FL (July 5, 2020) - Two men were killed in a Saturday car accident on the Florida's Turnpike. The crash took place near Minute Maid Road around 10:30 a.m.
According to reports, a 36-year-old man from Ocala was driving an SUV on the Turnpike when he ran off the road and onto the grassy shoulder. The driver then overcorrected the vehicle and traveled back onto the highway before striking a guardrail and flipping over. Two passengers in the vehicle, a 35-year-old Silver Springs man, and a 25-year-old man from Davie, were killed as a result of the crash. The driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.
There is no word on what caused the crash to occur. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
Fatal accidents take place in Florida about once every three hours. These crashes are devastating for family members who must deal with the sudden loss of a loved one. The pain is even greater when the loss was caused by the actions of a negligent driver.
