Indian River County, FL (January 16, 2021) - Two people suffered injuries in a car accident that took place on Friday night in Indian River County. The accident occurred on Interstate 95 near mile marker 155 at approximately 8:50 p.m.

The Indian River County Sheriff's Office, along with the Florida Highway Patrol, responded to the accident scene. According to officials, a 24-year-old woman from North Huntington, PA was driving a Honda Civic when her car collided with a vehicle driven by a 30-year-old man from Navarre. The woman suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. Police have not said how the crash took place and the victims have not been identified.

The crash remains under investigation. No further information is available.

According to statistics, about 250,000 people were victims of Florida injury accidents in 2019. A very large majority of all Florida car accidents are caused by the actions of negligent drivers. These drivers choose to speed, drive while distracted, driving under the influence of alcohol, and other careless behaviors. All of these actions can lead to injuries for innocent victims.
