Dunnellon, FL (January 19, 2021) - A toddler and a man were killed in a crash between a pickup truck and a garbage truck in Dunnellon on Tuesday, January 19th. The accident took place on County Road 328.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to a report from troopers, a garbage truck was stopped in front of a driveway on CR 328. The truck was picking up trash when a Mazda pickup truck came towards the garbage truck while traveling westbound on CR 328. The Mazda collided with the back of the garbage truck. Two passengers inside the Mazda, a 41-year-old man, and a 2-year-old child, were killed in the accident. The 40-year-old female driver suffered critical injuries. The occupants of the garbage truck were not injured in the collision. No one involved in the accident has been identified at this time.
Troopers are still investigating the accident. There is no additional information available.
Deadly car accidents take place each day across Florida. According to statistics, there are about eight fatal crashes reported each day across our state.
