Working Out and Working Outdoors
Opt for lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothes in natural fibers. A hat will keep your head cool and protect you from the sun.
Avoid being outdoors during the hottest hours of the day: between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Learn how to prevent heat-related illnesses. Seek medical care right away if you become nauseous, vomit or experience cramps.
Pace yourself, start slowly. If you must work quickly, pick up the pace gradually.
If you're experiencing fast heartbeat, shortness of breath and/or weakness, STOP all activity. Rest in a shaded area to recover body's temperature.
If working outdoors, monitor the condition of co-workers.
